A laugh escaped her gut as she watched him struggle with the pain. "Oh no, I find this much more entertaining than tracking down some coward at the moment. What do you think? Can you tolerate more?" she questioned. Without another word, she increased the pain in his ribs and gave him the worst headache possible without it becoming a migrane.

Khai refused to show anymore pain on his face, He smirked then said in an incedibly serious tone, " That's enough Sarai. Now let me go." He straitened out, with some difficultly, " You know I could kill you easily." Now Khai certainly wasn't one to succumb to pain, he was trained specifically to handle ungodly amounts of pain. He took the saber from his sash, he stroked the blade. "Hmmm." he sighed thoughtfully, " You can't hurt me now" he said with a grin on his face. Oh sure, the pain Sarai had already inflicted was still there, and still raoring on. But something about the metal... Calmed down his excited state of mind, so that he could relax enough to not let her mind games effect her anymore.

Thoroughly annoyed and not even remotely amused, Sarai withdrew herself from his mind. She had to admit that she admired Khai for having the gall to stand up to her. "You just enjoy spoiling my fun, don't you?" she asked, sighing a bit. In her mind was the knowledge that he could, in fact, kill her and that keeping up this little charade would only harm her...not that she'd even come close to admitting such a thing. "Ah well, I suppose I should save all my energy for Zambi," she said, turning and heading back the way she had come before pausing and turning around once more. "Kudos on your quick thinking," she added with a tight smile. That was about as close to a compliment as she was willing to come at this point in time.
When she felt threatened or ill at ease by some person, place, or situation, she tended to be a lot more cruel than usual. Sarai never felt at home wherever she went and knew that her position as a knight did not help this feeling at all. She knew she was where she was because of her cruelty and that was something that greatly dissatisfied her. At the beginning, she treasured her newly discovered powers and used them to help her gain respect though she had always been the one being bullied and abused previously. She was no beginning to realize the hypocracy in her actions and hated herself for it, but she knew that if she were to stop now, people would investigate and there are things in her past she wished for no one to know.

A voice rung through Sarai's head. "All knights, please report to the royal audience chamber immediately. There is important news that I wish to discuss with all of you". Kastel Zypher was known for being brief, but a message as short as this usually meant something drastic was about to take place.

Sarai grit her teeth at the message and began making her way to the royal audience chamber. Whatever the news was, she had a feeling she was going to despise it. Nothing that started with a brief message ever boded well for her.

Zambi, now halfway into Central Genoa, stopped running and looked about him. A look of confusion came to his face. "...Is she not following me...?" After waiting a little longer, he shrugged it off and decided to get his awaited meal.
"All knights, please report to the royal audience chamber immediately. There is important news that I wish to discuss with all of you."
Zambi turned to look at the castle, "Ah, shit. You gotta be kidding me," and he started running back towards the Kastell's voice. This day had turned sour for Zambi.

Vertigo jerked up from the parchments he had been examining, startled by the voice. He had never quite gotten used to the fact that the Kastell could see his thoughts - he shivered guiltily as he tried very hard not to think about how much he disliked having someone inside his head. But all that aside, a direct order had to be obeyed. Vertigo broke into a swift, easy lope in the direction of the throne room.

Sarai had a feeling she would be reprimanded for using her powers against one on her side for it seemed to be too much of a coincidence. Though she was most likely just being her paranoid self and had nothing to worry about. Once she got close to the throne room, she spotted Vertigo and gave him a small smile. Her guilt was obviously getting to her.

Vertigo paused for a moment in front of the throne room doors, soothed his uneasy nerves, and raised his hand to the great brass ring in the door as Sarai arrived from the opposite direction. Vertigo nodded to her, soothed his now-panicked nerves, and reached for the door. "Let us see what our leader has for us, eh?" he muttered, breathing quickly.

A six foot seven storm blew through the chamber past the uneasy Vertigo, failing to even acknowledge him. Throwing wide the doors, Khast entered the throne room with all the grace of a newborn Skybaby, bowing low before the pacing Kastel.

Khai walked in quietly, slipping through the door after Khast had entered. He stood strait against the wall, shaking his hair out of the messy tie that held it and put it back in an almost exact ponytail from before. Khai placed his hands to his side and followed the large man with his eyes.

Vertigo followed Khai into the room, trying very hard to be inconspicuous without looking like he was trying to be inconspicuous. Which of course was futile since the Kastell could see that he was thinking about trying to be inconspicuous inconspicuously. He swallowed.

Sarai was the last one in, following after Vertigo and shutting the large door as quietly as possible. Unfortunately, it still echoed a bit and she cringed slightly before making her way over to the others and watching the Kastell with worried curiosity.

Zypher paced across the elevated ground where the throne sat. After a silent moment he turned to face his audience. "Good, you're all here". The knights were packed together tightly within the throne room; after all, it was no easy task to fit thirty-five people in such a sacred room The Kastel stepped forward, "As I am sure you are all aware, earlier today one of your own was kidnapped by an underground organization. Until recently there have been...", the young boy paused, looking for the right words, "...Methods of uncovering such gatherings, and eliminating them before they became a threat". The pacing resumed, "These recent events could not make it any more clear that our previous methods of detection are no longer as efficient as they used to be". Kastel Zypher stepped down, now walking amongst the gathered, "Should it come to open warfare, I should expect my knights to be well learned in the art of battle--not merely one on one, for this is why you are a knight, but as a fluid and efficient unit". By this time the small blue eyed boy had worked his way to the back of the chamber. "Thus in two days time a tournament will be held between the knights to determine your strengths and weaknesses. Based on the results you will be grouped with the knights who benefit your powers the most". Zypher paused to let his words sink in. "Also", he began again, "Word of this tournament is not to leave this room. I have not approved the sects with The Council, for I fear their decision will come to late. Therefore meet back here in two days. You are dismissed". Once he finished talking the ruler of all of Genoa sat heavily upon his throne, contemplating that which still troubled him,

Vertigo ground his teeth as he walked back to his niche in the officers' quarters. "Damn, just what I need," he muttered. "I don't have time for some stupid game. I'm busy! Criminals and felons on the loose, and the Kastell wants us to fight each other. Fool boy," he finished quietly. He stood for a moment looking down at his map of the sewers, then turned abruptly and strode away toward the front lobby.
Vertigo walked up to the front desk and tried for a moment unsuccessfully to get the attention of the receptionist, whose back was to him. "Kitty!" he snapped finally. She jumped, and Vertigo's fist crashed into the back of her head. "Blast it," he said. "My apologies, but you're going to have to learn to control that." She got up from the floor, rubbing the back of her head and sporting an excellent specimen of a black eye. "I'm awfully sorry, Vertigo. What was it you wanted?" "I see I'm not the first today," sighed Vertigo, eying her face. "No," she replied, touching her eye. Vertigo shook his head. "Anyway, I need a rundown on all criminal reports, complaints, disturbances of the peace, and so forth, for today and yesterday, as soon as is possible." "Right, one moment please," said Kitty, rummaging in a couple of file cabinets, then handing him a folder. "Good luck, sir." "Thank you, Kitty," said Vertigo absently, already flipping through the pages rapidly.
