The Spiker did little to betray it's name, for the ship looked more like a rather large canoe than an actual ship. Unsatisfied with the size of the ship, Marlyn had immediately set her crew to work modifying the tiny vessel--a process that proved near-fatal to Mary and Django. The weight of the (newly enlarged) cabin at the rear of the vessel provided an interesting effect when coupled the enormous sail. In fact, on a good ebb it was not all together uncommon for The Spiker to rise completely out of the water. Intrigued by this, Marlyn mounted her cannon upon the top of the cabin. It was not long before this modification was to be tested.
Django was fast at work adjusting the sail when he spotted it. "Capn'!" he cried down to Marlyn, who was attempting to explain why Marlo needed a new name if he was to stay on the ship. Unfortunately the sound of cannon-fire told Marlyn all she needed needed know. In a single moment Marlo hit the deck, Marlyn wheeled around to scan the horizon, and Django joined Marlo--though his impact much more sincere.
"...Arok Rothide...".
It took a moment for the unconventionality of Marlyn's words. Before Marlo could question them however, Marlyn supplied her retort, "That's your new name, Arok Bloodbane".

"You can't run!!" "Miss spike, this is crazy!!" The tiny ship had somehow miraculously avoided being pummeled into the sea, yet in the past half hour had only managed to strike three holes in the infamous pirate hunter's ship. Nightengaile, perhaps taken by habit hid behind Mary, who was feverishly loading the cannon before Marlo...now Arok fired it. Twice Mary's head was nearly taken off as Aarok fired prematurely. Marlyn hung from the mast, shouting orders at her crew, and Django was doing his best to focus his attention between steering the ship, listening to Marlyn, and using his powers.
Django's power had developed later then most. Being born on Hanjumara, a small island, his control over wind currents was not thought to be entirely useful. That is, until a great trader ship from the mainlands arrived. Django was taken from his home and used to control the international economy of the seas. He had nearly become a man when Captain Sturgeon Spike pilfered the ship he was on. Seeing the great potential in Django, he recruited him as one of his own. At First Django was weary of this, but soon realized that he was treated differently by Sturgeon and the others, and he soon grew an attachment to Sturgeon's only daughter, Marlyn.
"Turn her around, we're going to ram it!" Arok had lost all hope of arguing with Marlyn, he simply hit the ground and began to pray. Mary, as if taking a queue from this, began to attempt to fire the gun while loading it. Django would have protested, had he been paying attention, but instead he turned the ship and headed streight for the great barge, the rapidly increasing speed causing The Spiker to bounce on the waves.

Kari Engele had always been a lone wolf. She had everything she would ever need to survive on her own. Under her well-polished chain mail were simple Lenin clothing garments to keep the mail from chafing. Above were simple steel paldrons, short-short grieves, and a simple chest piece with her family crest painted onto it (against her wishes). Her pack had been left unattended, still fitted with a steel buckler and Rakja; an ornate spear fitted with two halberd heads on one end and a scimitar-like blade on the other. Kari's family had put great weight on experimental weapon development, and Rakja was the pinnacle of their success. Perfectly balanced and comfortably designed, Rakja was the very definition of a weapon; a trait which could prove disastrous in the wrong hands. Karri's hands thus far had proved to be fitting enough for the weapon's taste though, and with any luck (good or bad), she would be the first to test it in combat.
The crack of cannon fire had woken Kari, and for a moment she thought she could sleep through it. However, she was soon proved wrong. The door burst in, the hinges braking, "You there, stow-away!" The gruff man's greedy one eye scanned Karri's figure, too bad for him she was still in full armor. "You want to prove your worth so i don't throw your pretty little self overboard? Use your powers to help us take down this target."
Kari knew she shouldn't have used her ability to fend them off when they found her in the cargo bay, but being surrounded by a group of lonely old men was...ugh. She rolled off the bed and tied her auburn hair behind her. It would still get in the way, as even now it nearly stretched to her thin hips, but it would not cloud her vision. Kari paused, and looked at her pack. No, what use would her equipment be in a navel battle? With a heavy sigh she strutted out the door, studying the floor as she walked. The captain walked along impatiently behind her, wanting to hurry her along, but not wanting to lose her help. Finally Kari walked out onto the deck caring, two copper hinges, a broken arrow and a handful of musket shot.
