Sodom jumped at Dee's yell and headed straight for the kitchen to sit at the table.
"Wait--why did I do that so quickly..."
GRUMBLE
He sighed, "I am really hungry, though... I haven't eaten today at all..."

Aiden followed Sodom close behind, pushing him out of the way as he opend the door. She laughed hard, then took his hand and jerked him into the kitchen saying, " Ha ha, you need shoes, boy.."

" Okay?" She said, and trudged slowly into the dining area.

Inside the kitchen was a long table sat with twelve plates, each with it's own set of silverware and a cup of water. As the motley crew took their seats, Big Mama Dee pulled covers off of the platters, revealing heaps of chicken casserole.
"Eat up!" Said the exited cook, "and I'll tell you the reason for the occasion!"
Mary raised his hand timidly, felling uncomfortable without pants. "NO TALKING AT THE TABLE!" Dee snapped, and Mary's hand was shot down.

Sodom sat quietly at the table. The girl was right, he did need shoes. His feet would cry if they were able to. He dared not speak up to ask for shoes--or to ask who changed his clothes--after the boy across from him was silenced.
Such an odd place, he thought. Even this guy gives me the impression of a stray dog.

Cristofori, newly attired in a pair of pants and a plain white shirt, crept down the stairs quietly, congratulating himself on the acquisition and the fact that everyone else was apparently in the kitchen, leaving him a clean shot out the door. He was halfway there when he caught the smell of chicken casserole, to which his stomach responded loudly; he remembered he hadn't had anything to eat since breakfast on the ship. Which was a long time ago. He crept stealthily to the door and listened to the clink of utensils on the other side. "Alright," he said, "this should be easy. I'll just walk in there real relaxed and casual and get some food, then walk out. No one will notice. It'll be fine." He took a deep breath. "This is a really bad idea," he said to himself as he opened the door.

As The mealtime bandit entered the room Dee stood, speaking again. "Now, the reason I've gathered you here tonight!" The delighted Chef straightened up slightly, "It seems that earlier today, The Rats Nest got it's first official mission!" Dee paused for a moment, then specified when she didn't get a reaction, "...it means we get money".
"Anyway, on to the mission. Tomorrow morning you all will take a train to Desola. From there you will travel west into Sabotenda desert, and find a chain of catacombs under the sand. Then, in these catacombs, you will find an ancient ruin, retrieve it, and bring it back here!" Dee's light-hearted tone belied her overly vague description of the misson.
Mary's hand shot up again, but Dee continued. "Now, I'm sure traveling sounds like a 'big deal' to you guys, but I assure you, for the sum of money that we are being payed it is a walk in the park". Dee paused for effect, "One hundred thousand GC to be exact. With the guilds portion taken, that still leaves each of you with ten thousand GC each!" Dee smiled broadly, as if having just told a great secret. "Now, I want you to all get a good nights sleep, so I want none of you wandering the town tonight. After dinner I expect you all to head straight up to bed. No exceptions!"

Cristofori ducked behind the chair of the speaker, thinking quickly. The chicken casserole was so close... but in full view of a room of hostile demons. He needed a diversion, but wha- ah! he had it!
As the speaker finished and began to sit down, Cristofori yanked the chair away.

Nutria beamed with happiness, the glow of which could have been noticed from across the street. "That's great news, isn't it, kids!? Now we can rebuild that second floor!" he said, ignoring Mary and Taylor's shifting glances. He gave a massive grin and and shoved the entire casserole into his mouth. "By fhe way, Dee. Yuh godda shair prablum, thur."
Sodom froze. HOW MUCH MONEY DID HE...SHE...eh, SAY? That'd more than make up for the beedle... Hell, that'd get me out of the hole for sure! He slammed his hands on the table, suffered multiple splinters in his hands, and yelled to Dee, "Where do I sign!?"

Big Dee clapped her hands together, "Oh, thats right, you boys need some guild forms, don't you?" Within seconds Dee had shoved guild registries in the hands of Nightingale, Sodom, and Christophi (finding it completely normal for him to be lurking about). After the forms were handed out, Dee promptly herded everyone up-stares, insisting that they get a good nights sleep. "And remember", began Big Mama Dee, "I'll be patrolling in case anyone tries to sneak out for the night!"

Sodom was shoved into the guest room he had come to recognize before. The same bed he was planning an escape on was there. The same bed the stray dog broke was there, too.
"But-but, I really need to go see my mom before I--" And the door was slammed in his face.
He stared into the door, glaring down all the splinters that took residence on it, frustrated at the inconvenience he may have just invited himself into. The wood only stared back. Sodom gave in and lay down on his given bed. He tried to sleep.
The only dream he would experience was of him, willingly, dropping a coin into a sewer grate. Over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over, only to awaken a few hours later thinking.

There was a thud next to the bed, "omph". Mary lay beside the wreck of a bed, douses of colorful pajamas protecting him from the splitters that lay strewn about the floor. It was apparent that this "guest room" had now become the "boy's room".
"I don't understand it...", Taylor said to no one in particular. "How come the men sleep in my room, and we have to stay in Mary's room? Don't touch anything..."

"Um," said Cristofori. "What just happened?" He looked down at the sheet of paper in his hand. "What have I just walked into? Hello?" He turned to the boy on the floor. "What's going on here?"

Aiden nit picked through the room as she followed Taylor into Mary's room. " What on earth....?" She dropped a bottle back onto the table when Taylor said " Don't touch anything" Aiden turned around quickly, She looked at the other girl in the room with her. " So.. um... sleep..?"

Taylor nodded wearily, "right...try your best at least. Dee is right, we will need our sleep". And with that she flopped on to Mary's (Water) bed, "Oh god...".
Mary rolled over drowsily, looking at the man in womans pajamas. "Mrat's Nest...big money...easy jobs...". With that, he rolled over and went back to sleep.
